I like to keep my memory keeping projects pretty simple, but sometimes I just want to dress things up a bit. For the most part, I use digital embellishments on my pages, especially in my Project Life albums because I don't like a bulky binder, but on my other projects like my Letters to my Daughters albums, I'll go a little more decorative because it can be so much fun! That being said, today's post is all about sharing my most favorite physical and digital embellishments.
On the physical embellishment side, I like anything natural looking like all things wood veneer, cork stickers and things made out of paper. There are some exceptions, but for the most part, those are my go-to physical embellishments. As to where I buy my physical embellishments, I'd say almost everywhere! I've picked up things at Studio Calico, Freckled Fawn, Etsy and a local scrapbooking store on occasion.
With regards to digital embellishments, I have two favourite places, Ali Edwards and Paislee Press. I could literally buy everything on Ali's and Liz's websites!! However, if I were to pick only just a few must-haves it would include:
- Anything from the Minimalist line like the 3x4 Photo Template Vol. 2, 3x4 Photo Templates and 4x6 Photo Templates Vol. 5
- Loved = Other Sentiments word art
- Pictures + Words Vol. 3
Finding digital and / or physical embellishments that are true to your unique style is key in creating a visually consistent look to you projects. If you look at any of my memory keeping projects from the past 2-3 years you will find 3 consistent elements; 1. the use of white space, 2. light earthy tone colours and 3. embellishments with a natural organic feel to them like cork or wood.
How about you, what is your favourite go-to embellishment(s) and how do you think the use of embellishments can impact your memory keeping style?
