Grown Up Little Girls' Rooms

In two months my munchkins will turn 10 years old. Double digits!! Yikes! Where has the time gone?! And instead of getting them more toys or "stuff" for their birthday, I decided to redecorate their bedrooms, making them a little more grown up, but still super cute and pretty.

I have one daughter who loves pink and the other who loves purple, and because they are twins with their rooms side by side, I wanted both rooms to have a similar look and feel to them.

Years ago we purchased two white Restoration Hardware beds which are still in great shape, however, all the other elements in their rooms could use some refreshing and dressing up.

So here is what I have planned.

Abby's Room:

  1. RH Petite Fleur Duvet Cover and Sham in lilac
  2. RH Petite Trellis Sheet Set in lilac
  3. RH Parisian Side Table in burnished gold
  4. RH Marceline Writing Desk
  5. RH Sevilla Floral Wool Rug

We currently have wall-to-wall carpet in both girls' rooms which will eventually be replaced so until then I thought putting a beautiful area rug overtop would do the trick. I'm also adding those gorgeous writing desks (a gift from my parents for their upcoming birthday) because as they get older having a spot to do their homework will be really important. Abby also needed a bedside table so she's getting the super cute gold side table and Emma needed a little table lamp. Lastly, I'm updating their bed sheets and duvet covers to the pretty pink and lilac sets.

I love mixing high and low in all my decorating so I will also be adding the Ikea Lenda curtains in both girls rooms, with the Kvarnvik boxes for organizing their things and reusing Abby's Ikea Hemnes dresser.

In addition I have big plans for creating an open closet in each of their rooms and repainting the walls, but I will wait until everything else is done before I tackle those two projects.

Granted I have taken on redecorating the girls' rooms while we are in the midst of our bathroom renovation so my timing isn't great given all that's going on, but sometimes I just can't stop myself from pulling other rooms apart when I'm in full-on renovation mode. Here's to fingers crossed that I can pull the girls' rooms together before their birthday and keep my bathroom reno on track as well!
